Satisfied, Unwavering

They were opposites, but not entirely different. He was closed off the world and so is she, but for wildly different reasons. He grew up bathed with all the unwanted attention from family, friends to adoring fans that he tried to shut himself off in hopes of pushing them all away. While she struggled for the longing of parental affection or even little recognition, desperately trying but immensely failing.

For the two have considered getting acquainted to each other much less going over that level of familiarity was still a mystery for everyone. But despite the difference, a spark has managed to light up and eventually, the light continued to glow. Though, the flame is yet to lose its heat when overwhelming cold swallows it.

It was a chance meeting. A frail, clumsy girl and a proud, cocky boy. A bump. A spilled coffee over clean, ironed white shirt. A thousand pleads of desperate apology. And an annoyed grunt. She was horrified and he was expectantly indifferent. A few more of these chance meetings followed and the two decided these are no more mere coincidences.

Hearts opened, secrets shared, and the feelings grew deeper. She was happy, he was still stoic but no one can deny the glow in his eyes when she clumsily saunters up to him, her ever bright smile decorated in her beautiful facade.

But eventually, happiness must come to an end.

'I must go.' he said, nonchalant thought there is an evident sadness in his tone.

'I know.' she replied, head bowed down to prevent him from seeing the upcoming tears.

'Aren't you going to stop me?' he asked.

'I want to.... But I wont.' she answered in a small, but determined voice.

'Why?' he asked again, though now there was a tinge of desperation in his voice.

'Because I know this will be for the best. You have dreamed of this your entire life. I wouldn't let myself get in the way of that. I won't let anybody.' she finally looked up. Determination and finality etched in her auburn orbs.

The boy's eyes widened for a fracture of a second. The girl he always swore to protect has become somewhat strong and independent. Has she really changed? Or is this just a front she has put up to assure him she can go on without him?

'Very well then...I have to get going now.' he said. 'Please...please...take care of yourself.'

'Of course. As long as you promise to do the same to yourself. For me.'

He smirked his unfaltering smirk.

'Don't I always? And another favor...'

She gazed at him with questioning eyes.

'Will you wait for me?'

His usually sharp golden arises now displayed doubt and uncertainty.

Then she smiled. Her bright and beautiful smile that always sent butterflies in his stomach.

'Always...forever.'

And he was satisfied as she was unwavering. He will come back, and she will be waiting...

-end?-

*this is just a random thought. Though the characters were based off a favorite anime couple of mine :)
